Stablecoin companies have been in talks with regulators and lawmakers since 2021. Around that time, the Treasury called on Congress to take up stablecoin legislation. Major issuers like Tether and Circle hope legislation will foster adoption and turn their tokens into common forms of payment. As such, they have ramped up their lobbying spending into the millions.
