             It's 10am Sunday morning, I've been in my gym cafe since 8am catching up on some work, and the closer I get to 11am (when I intend to workout) I'm being hit with waves of avoidant thoughts and excuses.

             I've just had a week of travelling, where schedules have been thrown out, food choices have suffered, 
gyms have been a distant memory, and sleep hasn't been great.
            </p>
            <p style="Margin-top: 20px;Margin-bottom: 0;">
             I had a lot of fun, and this kind of thing is a positive part of life not to be avoided, but still for anyone who's into routines and building habits, one week like this can appear to completely destroy weeks or even months of effort.
            </p>
            <p style="Margin-top: 20px;Margin-bottom: 0;">
             <strong>
              What do I do in this situation?
             </strong>
            </p>
            <p style="Margin-top: 20px;Margin-bottom: 0;">
             <em>
              Do I think of my deeper "why" and just do what needs to be done?
             </em>

             Sometimes, but let's be honest, these often abstract or emotional ideas of why you're doing something don't always cut it in the here and now when you just
             <strong>
              do. not. want. to. do. the. thing.
             </strong>

             <em>
              Do I 
"stay hard" and just get my ass in the gym with Goggins on Audible?
             </em>
            </p>

             Sometimes, but right now he'd just piss me off, so no.
            </p>

              What I do, is commit to something.

             To keep this simple, I think of a 10 minute warm up of some stuff I enjoy.
            </p>

             If not enjoy, stuff that's not too hard or uncomfortable.
            </p>
            <p class="size-15" lang="x-size-15" style="Margin-top: 20px;Margin-bottom: 0;font-size: 15px;line-height: 23px;">
             Maybe 10 minutes on a treadmill with some good music as opposed to burpees (these should be illegal anyway) and battle ropes, for example.
            </p>
            <p class="size-15" lang="x-size-15" style="Margin-top: 20px;Margin-bottom: 0;font-size: 15px;line-height: 23px;">
             I know, both with myself and the 100s of clients I've applied this with, that more often that not:
            </p>
            <p class="size-15" lang="x-size-15" style="Margin-top: 20px;Margin-bottom: 0;font-size: 15px;line-height: 23px;">
             <strong>
              If you can do just 10 minutes, you will almost certainly finish the workout.
             </strong>
            </p>
            <p class="size-15" lang="x-size-15" style="Margin-top: 20px;Margin-bottom: 0;font-size: 15px;line-height: 23px;">
             BUT...
            </p>

             You have put some time aside to train, and done something, and that will be starting to build that habit up again.

              Showing up

             for a workout is often more important than

              what
             </em>
             the workout is.

             Of course, if you're just showing up all the time with no plan or system, then you'll struggle to make progress in the long run, but its that first workout or two after a break that are the ones when you need to just show up to and do

             Don’t let a desire for perfection hold you back from 
doing something.
