You are not alone. This is exactly the kind of thing I procrastinate on myself, so I feel you. In Hawaii you are required to register all your bicycles. I pushed that off for a year and once I made a task to actually do it, I pushed it to the next day two dozen times before making any progress. It’s so hard to do things you don’t really care about. I just tell myself it’s a feature and not a bug so it doesn’t hurt as much 😅

But there are two tricks I use to actually do this kind of stuff:

I set aside a day once a month or a quarter where I just rip through a bunch of bs admin work like this. At least then I can trick myself into feeling a sense of accomplishment when I do a bunch of these tasks in one day. If there’s just one thing like this, it just feels like an annoyance. If there’s a bunch, it’s a challenge.

My wife and I have an agreement that anytime we finish any boring paperwork-related work that we always
procrastinate on we go out for malasadas (a type of donut popular in Hawaii).
