I’m often working on projects that span 3-5 working days that I want to break into smaller chunks but I don’t try and figure out the smaller chunks as a first step. My go-to approach is to set aside a significant chunk of time (e.g. 2 hours) to try and start building or sketching things out from start to finish. Those first two hours of trying to get to my end goal give me a lot of clarity on what all the constituent parts might be and then I can start turning those in to subtasks that I’ll tackle over multiple days.
