                        On the last few days of your journey, try not to think, "I can't wait until I have another drink again," says Hamilton-Mace. Thinking about what you've been missing out on robs you of the ability to "appreciate the positives of taking a break from alcohol."

                       Five questions to ask yourself after your alcohol-free month ends. "Use the information to tackle the root causes" of your drinking habits, says Gooch.

                         1. 💃 Whom did you find it hard being sober around?
                        </b>
                        "Were there some people who pressured you more than others? Who didn't have your best interests at heart?" asks Gooch. Maybe those are relationships to reevaluate.

                         2. 🏦 Where did you find it hardest not to drink?
                        </b>
                        "Maybe you found it challenging not to drink at work events. Why is that?" says Gooch. "Is it because you struggle with impostor syndrome in a workplace setting?" If so, that may be a sign to work on your confidence.

                        <b>
                         3. ⌚ Was there a particular time of day that you felt a pull to drink? Why?
                        </b>
                        "First thing in the morning? On a Sunday night?" says Gooch. "Then think about the emotion you felt in those times. Were you stressed? Angry? Happy?"
                        <br/>
                        <br/>
                        These answers can help you identify your triggers. If you felt most tempted to drink on lazy Sunday afternoons, ask "what could you do in that moment when you're bored instead of drinking?" she says.
                        <br/>
                        <br/>
                        Or if you noticed you wanted a drink after work, maybe it's because "work is really stressing you out," she says. "Can you do something in between work and home to help you unwind in a different way, like take a class?"
                        <br/>
                        <br/>
                        <b>
                         4. 🥅 Review your goals at the start of the journey.
                        </b>
                        Why did you decide to take a month off in the first place? "Did you want a break? Did you have something important to get done?" says Hamilton-Mace. And did you achieve those goals? Seeing your progress can motivate you to continue your break from alcohol if you choose to do so.

                         5. 💤 What did taking a break allow you to do?
                        </b>
                        "Have you gotten better sleep? Have you looked after yourself more? Have you had better relationships with the people around you?" says Hamilton-Mace.

                        These positive changes will show you it's possible to "improve your life and your lifestyle to the level that's important to you," she says. And that's empowering.
