                  Since its update in 2016, the Toxic Substances Control Act has become an invaluable tool in the fight to protect public health. In its current form, the Toxic Substances Control Act serves the public by ensuring that new chemicals are thoroughly reviewed for safety before entering the marketplace. By giving EPA the authority to put limits on dangerous chemicals we’re better prepared to protect the health of children, workers and communities from devastating health-harms.

                  But the proposed changes would create dangerous loopholes, providing chemical manufacturers with broad exemptions that would shortcut EPA’s review process. In practice, this could allow chemicals — approved for one specific industrial use — ending up in a consumer product used in our homes, cars and workplaces. This creates more risk for consumers who could face higher risks of exposure to chemicals linked to cancer, learning disabilities and infertility. That’s why we need your help to push back.
