                        Friend -- we have some good news:

                         Because of your advocacy efforts, oil companies chose to stay out of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
                        </b>
                        <br/>
                        <br/>
                        When the Trump administration announced they were leasing 1.5 million acres of the Arctic Refuge for drilling, they expected oil companies to line up to “drill, baby, drill.”
                        <br/>
                        <br/>
                        Instead, the oil companies mostly didn't show. Only two small companies won bids
                        <span style="font-size:11px;">
                         <sup>

                        </span>
                        -- and only 70,000 acres were leased. What would have been a catastrophic attack on a pristine natural treasure flopped because oil companies knew that drilling in the Arctic Refuge is a losing proposition.

                        <b>
                         To be clear: this doesn't mean the rest of the Arctic is safe. Three more lease sales are still mandated by Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill.
                        </b>
                        Destructive projects in other parts of Alaska are already underway. Seismic testing is still planned in the Refuge as soon as this winter. And this won't be the last time the Trump administration and a complicit Congress try to carve up the Arctic Refuge.

                        The Trump administration and its allies aren't done trying to sell the Arctic to the highest bidder. There are already projects in motion that will endanger polar bears, caribou, migratory birds and other wildlife, while jeopardizing the life and livelihoods of Indigenous Tribes like the Gwich'in:

                         <b>
                          Amber Road is a proposed 211-mile industrial mining road
                         </b>
                         that would cut through Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, opening the door to heavy truck traffic, toxic mining operations, and permanent fragmentation of wildlands.
                        </li>

                        <li>
                         <b>
                          Federal actions are weakening protections and expanding oil and gas development in the Western Arctic,
                         </b>
                         one of the last intact Arctic ecosystems on Earth and home to vulnerable wildlife and wetlands.
                        </li>

                         <b>
                          The Trump administration has moved to expand offshore drilling
                         </b>
                         in Alaska and across the country, boosting the use of fossil fuels and opening the doors to toxic spills in our most sensitive habitats.
                        </li>
