       Fred, my name is Maribel Hernández Rivera. I work as the ACLU's national director of immigrant community strategies.
      </p>
      <p>
       <strong>
        <a>
         In a moment, I'm going to ask you to make a donation to help the ACLU reach our $750,000 end-of-fiscal-year goal so we can continue our urgent work to defend immigrants' rights and all of our civil liberties.
        </a>
       </strong>
       But first, I'd like to share a bit about my personal story:
      </p>
      <p>
       In 1993, I came to the United States from Mexico and settled in Houston, Texas. Growing up, I was terrified that if anyone knew I was undocumented, I would be deported. Thirteen years later, my father passed away undocumented and the authorities did not notify my family of his death. I have felt firsthand how people who are immigrants are not treated as human beings.
      </p>
      <p>
       Now, as an adult, I'm again seeing how inhumane immigration policies harm families. In states like Minnesota, ICE has been deployed to occupy cities, terrorize communities, and tear apart families just like mine. And they have committed deadly violence against civilians protesting their inhumane behavior. But, Fred, the ACLU is fighting tooth and nail against these unconstitutional actions, including:
      </p>
      <ul>
       <li>
        Suing the Trump administration on behalf of Minnesota community members whose constitutional rights were violated by ICE and other federal agents.
       </li>
       <li>
        Filing over 100 legal actions to protect immigrant rights, even going all the way to the Supreme Court to argue cases like our birthright citizenship case,
        <em>
         Barbara v. Trump.
        </em>
       </li>
       <li>
        Securing judicial orders to halt unlawful deportations under the Alien Enemies Act and unconstitutional denials of citizenship to children born in the United States.
       </li>
       <li>
        Hosting Know Your Rights trainings and sharing materials so people can prepare for interactions with ICE, CBP, and other federal agents.
       </li>
       <li>
        Building a firewall in states and cities to keep the federal government from commandeering local resources to violate immigrants' rights.
       </li>
      </ul>
      <p>
       <strong>
        In this moment, we need our entire community to be 100% in. Because this incredibly urgent work requires the ongoing support of individuals like you, Fred.
       </strong>
      </p>

       <strong>
        <a>
