       As the smoke clears from another 4/20, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the continued impact of the War on Drugs on our communities.
      </p>
      <p>
       For decades, the ACLU has fought against the failed and ineffective policies of drug enforcement in this country, which have resulted in millions of unjust incarcerations – disproportionately of poor people and people of color – that have torn apart families and communities, and created barriers to housing, employment, and stability.
      </p>
      <p>
       And while we've made progress, there is still work to be done in the fight for structural reforms to the criminal legal system.
      </p>
      <p>
       <strong>
        Your support fuels this fight by funding strategic litigation, advocacy, and organizing needed to push for reforms in drug laws, excessive sentencing, policing, and public defense systems.
       </strong>

       Even as marijuana becomes legal or decriminalized in more states, severe racial disparities remain, and thousands of people still face the consequences of cannabis charges.
      </p>

       A more just system isn't possible until all people incarcerated for marijuana-related charges are released, criminal records for these offenses are expunged, and investments are made in communities disproportionately targeted in the War on Drugs.
      </p>
