        Fred, today, we're arguing in front of the Supreme Court on behalf of every child born in the United States.
       </strong>
      </p>
      <p>
       President Trump wants to strip away the right to birthright citizenship – the core principle that children born on American soil get the full rights of being a citizen. He wants to overturn over a century of Supreme Court precedent, law, and the Constitution. He thinks that he alone can redefine who belongs in this country and what it means to be American.
      </p>
      <p>
       <strong>
        He's wrong.
       </strong>
      </p>
      <p>
       We filed our first lawsuit within two hours of President Trump's attack on birthright citizenship and we've been fighting it ever since. We've won preliminary relief since then, preventing this order from going into effect, and we're prepared to win this for good at the Supreme Court.
      </p>
      <p>
       This case isn't abstract to our team. Our team includes lawyers who are second-generation Americans themselves, and we know what this order could mean for immigrant families who have uprooted their lives to come to this country, who have contributed everything to American communities, and who believe in the promises of the Constitution.
      </p>
      <p>
       The Executive Order we're challenging at the Court today would create mass chaos.
       <strong>
        It would create a permanent class of stateless people
       </strong>
       – people born here who have never known another home but are denied every right of citizenship.
      </p>
      <p>
       <strong>
        We simply won't let that happen.
       </strong>
       Our ACLU community has shown up en masse to support the Constitution – from the over 315,000 people who signed our petition and whose names we're displaying in D.C. with us, to the hundreds rallying outside the Supreme Court right now to cheer our legal team on.
      </p>

       <strong>
        As we head into the court today, we'll be thinking about supporters like you, Fred, and the thousands of families and children we're fighting for.
       </strong>

       We'll carry every name with us as we lay out our argument for the justices – and afterwards, as we await a ruling, we'll feel confident with the knowledge that the law and the people are on our side.
